Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to smudge with White Sage smudge stick / Palo Santo stick :

• Prepare Your Space: Before lighting the sage smudge stick, ensure that your space is well-ventilated. Open windows and doors to allow any negative energy to leave the area. Consider playing calming music or lighting candles to enhance the ambiance.
• Set Your Intention: First, set your intention for the smudging ritual. This could be to clear negative energy, invite positivity, or create a sense of peace and clarity in the space.
• Light the Sage Smudge Stick: Hold the sage smudge stick at a 45-degree angle and light the tip using a match or lighter. Let it burn for about 20-30 seconds, allowing the flame to catch onto the herbs. Once lit, gently blow out the flame, allowing the smudge stick to smolder and produce smoke.
• Light the Palo Santo Stick: Light one end of the palo santo stick under a strong flame for approx. 15-25 secs and allow to burn for another 10-15 secs. Initially you would get black smoke (which is the smoke from burning of natural resins/terpenes). Once glowing, blow out the flame. Instantly the smoke will turn white with fluffy cloud-like aromatic plumes. The wood stick would continue to smolder, releasing its fragrant smoke.
• Fan the Smoke: Use a feather or your hand to gently fan the smoke around yourself, starting from your feet and moving upwards towards your head. As you do this, visualize the smoke purifying your energy field and releasing all sorts of negativity or tension.
